    Description

ant6011.  This pair of wooden shoe lasts, #1412, are made of a heavy hardwood......I am guessing maple.  They were used in shaping leather shoes with special hammers.  As a result, there is some roughness in the toes and many times, in the interest of economy, the shoemakers would repair the holes with wood plugs as are evident in some.
This pair, right and left, are size 7 EE, strongly incised in wood and are 10 1/4" long........not an exact match; one has larger metal plate at front of sole and other is just a toe plate. Plus, one last is weathered.   Stamped on sides, United Last Co., Sept.1949.
These lasts would be much improved with a little cleaning and polishing.  Very Good- condition.
