What an unusual find! This is a set of two metal face molds. The previous owner thought they were for Halloween or Circus costumes and stated they were from the 1940's.
Each measures about 10 inches by 7 inches. Roughly 2 inches deep, and the combined weight just over 3 pounds. The back plates are magnetic and we are assuming steel. The face molds themselves are made of a different non-metallic metal - possibly brass or copper.
We believe the molds were used to mold rubber face parts as they still have an old rubber-like material in a few spots that can be flaked off.
